Installation Manual
Requirements
- Any Windows operating system (Windows XP, Windows Vista)
- Java Runtime Environment (>1.5 most of you will have it)
Installation Procedure
- Download the newest version to your computer
- Extract the Archive to a place on your harddrive (e.g. "C:\books\")
- Double-Click on "AllMyBooks.exe"
- Select a language
- Select an information provider for automatic lookup
Update Manual
- Make a backup of your current installation (e.g. assuming you have installed your current Version in "C:\books\". Rename it to "C:\booksV2\"
- Follow the installation instructions (e.g. to "C:\booksV3\")
- Copy your database-folder (i.e. "<your installation-folder>\db") from the old version to the new version)
Usage Manual
Adding books
The idea of the application is to automatically lookup the details (the authors name, the title, the publisher, ...) of the book by just inserting the ISBN number of the book.
Automatic lookup
After inserting the isbn number of the book you want to lookup just type ENTER or press the "Add" button.
If everything go's fine, after one or two seconds the title of the book will appear in the list.
Manual add
If your book can't be found you can insert the details manually and add the book to your database.
Just double-klick the line in the list.
A dialog with is provided to insert the information. Only the title field is mandatory.
Categorise books
After having add all your books you can categorize your library. You can use buzzwords, Topics or Location. As you wish.
Setup Categories
After having setup a bunch of Tags you can assign books to categories (i.e. Tags)
Assign books to categories
In the details view click on view tags. To assign a tag to the current book just klick the tag. After assigning a tag to a certain book it will be displayed in blue and in a larger font than unassigned tags.
Search books
To search for a specific book in your library just type your key word in the quick-search box. You can only search for text that is displayed in the book-list.
Export books
To export all your library to a Comma-Seperated-Value (CSV) file please first push the export button. Second select the data-fields you want to export and third push the export button.
You can open the file with different applications: e.g. Excel, Open-Office, any text-Edior.
